If you think that 2020 was horrible to you, I can not say but just agree to it. But if you think that you were the only person who suffered during that time, I would strongly disagree.
There are definitely more people out there who were in complete misery because of many factors, but I would like to take a moment and bring your attention to someone who you might not have thought about.
Do you know how many girls drop out of school every year? Either it is lack of awareness, lack of resources, financial problems, getting married at a young age or the classic old reason, ‘kya karegi padhke, ladki hi to hai’.
Well, I won’t bore you with their tales of hardship, lets keep it for some other day. And actually, you already know their plight.
I am here to address a lesser-known concern. How the overall 2020 scene, the pandemic impacted their lives further.
You must be aware of all the social work that happens to enhance the education of girl child. Those who cannot afford are given medium through which they can at least try. Their parents are made aware and encouraged to invest the time in their wards education and not discriminate just because the child is female.
But during the pandemic when we are well busy complaining about our overload of work from home, the zoom calls or being bored at home, I suppose none of us even thought that many of those girls who struggled to get out to study and had dreams in their eyes, will now not be able to back. When we all were busy thinking how to make Dalgona coffee, or learning new skills, somewhere the dreams in a little girls’ eyes were shattered.
I know this issue cannot be resolved in just one day, but it certainly won’t get resolved if we don’t act. Remember, you are privileged enough to help someone.
Use your resources, look around you, see if you can help. It won’t make you less of a human. We all are struggling in our own ways, what is important is to open your hearts a little bit because I am pretty sure, all of us have enough love and care to share with the world.
Join our cause, donate whatever you can. We at the girl imprints (INSERT WEBSITE/ INSTAGRAM LINK) are trying to do whatever we can to send the little girls to school. If you are an artist or a writer or you think you have what it requires to help someone, please reach out to us.
We are all in this together. By sharing and giving someone who is in need, we are gathering much more blessings that we can even imagine.
